KYC And Verification Policy

Wakajor requires identity verification from all service providers (Plugs) before they can receive payments or activate listings. This policy explains what we collect, how we review it, and what happens at each stage.

Why Wakajor Verifies Plugs

Wakajor is a marketplace for legitimate services. Before a Plug can accept paid orders or receive payouts, they must pass identity verification. Verification helps us maintain a trusted platform, reduce fraud, comply with applicable regulations, and protect Buyers from bad actors. Verification does not override our prohibited services policy or guarantee third-party outcomes.

Identity Information Collected From Service Providers

  • Full legal name as it appears on a government-issued ID.
  • Email address and active phone number.
  • Government-issued photo ID — National ID card (NIN slip or card), International Passport, or Driver's Licence.
  • Bank Verification Number (BVN) or National Identification Number (NIN) for identity matching.
  • Bank account details (account number, bank name, account name) for payout registration.
  • For sole traders or registered businesses: CAC registration number or Business Name Certificate where applicable.
  • Profile photo matching the submitted ID.
  • Service category, service description, and evidence of capability or professional background where required.
  • Device and IP signals, session metadata, and verification submission timestamps for fraud detection.

Enhanced Due Diligence

Wakajor applies additional review to certain accounts and transactions beyond standard KYC. Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) is triggered by: high-value or high-frequency transactions; service categories with elevated fraud or prohibited-service risk (such as immigration advisory, legal documentation, financial services, or government-facing services); accounts flagged by our automated risk engine; first-time payouts above defined thresholds; unusual transaction patterns; or any account where standard verification is inconclusive. EDD steps may include: manual review of submitted documents by our trust and safety team; requests for additional supporting documents such as professional credentials, business registration evidence, or references; interview or video verification; temporary holds on listings or payouts pending clearance; and escalation to relevant compliance authorities where required by law. Wakajor reserves the right to decline, suspend, or terminate accounts at any stage of EDD review.

Verification Providers

Wakajor uses identity and document verification technology providers to assist with BVN/NIN lookups, liveness checks, and document authenticity review. Verification data is shared with these providers only to the extent required to complete the check. Provider names, data retention terms, and consent disclosures are detailed in our Privacy Policy and may be updated as our provider relationships evolve.

Ongoing Transaction Monitoring

KYC does not end at sign-up. Wakajor monitors transactions, order patterns, payout requests, dispute history, and risk signals on an ongoing basis. Accounts that show unusual activity after approval may be subject to re-verification, additional documentation requests, payout holds, or restriction.

Verification Outcomes

  • Approved — Plug may accept paid orders and request payouts.
  • Pending — submission received and under review.
  • Resubmission requested — documents were unclear, mismatched, or incomplete.
  • Rejected — identity could not be verified or EDD review was not passed.
  • Suspended — account flagged post-approval for re-review.
  • Revoked — verification withdrawn due to policy violation, fraud finding, or compliance requirement.

Appeals

Plugs who believe a rejection or suspension was made in error may contact Wakajor Support to request a review. Appeals must include a reason and any additional supporting documents. Wakajor's decision following an appeal review is final.
